Kelsey Kraus is a computational linguist, data scientist, and educator. received her PhD in Linguistics from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2018, where she worked on the semantics and pragmatics of intonation and discourse particles in English and German. She joined the linguistics faculty at San Jose State University in 2026 after working in Silicon Valley as a Linguist and Senior Data Scientist at Google, Amazon, and Cisco. Kelsey was a featured speaker at Linguistics Career Launch 2022, presenting a session on Human Language Technology (HLT) Industry Jobs.
